Newer style a/c compressor on 89-93 ?

Last stupid newbie post for a while I swear !

I have a clapped out 92 W250 with 5.9 ctd that is new to me.
Present project AC that works (next windows that go down)
Condenser had big hole for who knows how long so I thought i'd really refresh the system and go r134a.
Found Sanden sh7h15 4667 on evilbay for cheap it's pad mount for cummins application has same fittings in same place on compressor head and it's r-134a sweet I thought ........and then I measured it.

There is about 1/4" difference in distance from mounting pad holes to first groove in compressor, fine must be pulley I thought but pulley measures same from back of pulled to front of compressor grrr.

OK so maybe it's not big I mounted it fired up and in seconds the belt is about 2 grooves off the back of the pulley AAARRRGGHH.

It looks like they moved the pad mount holes just a smidge ??
So is there a different adapter for the block ? and is that thing part of the water inlet like it looks like ?

So anyone that has put a newer compressor on one of the old 12 valve engines i'd LOVE to hear what you had to do/swap.

Thanks in advance,

Brian

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the older gens mounted different. Sorry, you probably already knew that though. If you buy a reman compressor, most of the time they have oil that is compatable with both refridgerants. Estercool is what I use, and it mixes with either oil. Sometimes they don't have any oil at all in them, and I still use estercool. Need to change the drier too. Would be a good idea to replace the h-vave( expansion valve) too. I would then flush all the remaining lines and components with a good a/c flush and add oil to each piece. If you want it to work well, for a long time, that's what needs done.
