Newby here on regen
I previously owned a 2004 5.9l, but now own a 2009 6.7l. My question is about the regen function. Is there any indication when the regen cycle is initiated? How often does it happen? Should I notice any change in performance during regen?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

when you smell plastic burning, your going through regen mode. It will only smell that way for a few regens. Do not know about regen cycle initiate time, think its regens when getting clog. As in change in performance get ready to feel what its like to drive a power stroke, its loses power, fuel milage drops but not for long, Runs like a champ after regen.

it depends alot on driving habits and load. There are 2 types of regens on these a passive and an active regen. the passive happens alot, as often as evert 30-40 miles for about 10-15 miles. an active is when there is a problem and will give an indication on the overhead and let you know when it is done. The only way to know if you have a passive going is to watch your fuel milage tank or EGT's go up if you have a gauge. I actually noticed my performance increase when the Edge said it was in regen too. Kinda felt like the Edge was in level 1

I would do a search on this and the other forums that are on the web. There has been a lot of discussion on how and when regen takes places. These disussion have taken place over and over so there is a lot of information for you to read. Good luck and enjoy your new truck.
