Thought I would drop in and say hello. I am starting to learn about these trucks and trying to learn what all the little things in signatures means.
I am planning on getting a CTD.
What sort of things would you do first for a new truck to get better mileage and more power? Cheaper is always better. I remeber reading/hearing something about turning up the fuel pump for more power and it didn't sacrifice the mileage. I haven't decided on a 12 or 24 valve yet, suggestions?
TIA,
Daren

Re:Newbie
Welcom to the site. The 12v/24v is a whole different can of worms :- I like the 12v better for those people that only want a small amount of HP gain it is really cheap in the 12v because you can get a 45 is HP shot free with just a slideing of the plate. For those who are looking for off the wall HP the 12v is again better than the 24v. I have a 98 24v and I can't say I hate it but 500 bucks for 65 HP If you get a 12v look for the ones built from 97-98 they had the 215hp pump which is the better at building more HP out of. of the p7100 pumps.

Re:Newbie
I am considering buying either a new one or a 02.5, I want the QC and extra room that it offers.
Any opinions on the auto or the 6sp manual? Haven't decided yet and also buying it as a 4x4, manual transfer case shift or electric? Not used to an electric option, have a manual in the Jeep now and like to know when it is in and out of four wheel drive.

Re:Newbie
The 6spd wil last you longer and hold more HP than the auto will. It just depends on how you drive. if do a lot of city driveing then the 6shooter will be a little harder to drive with. I have all 5spd and one auto in the truck I own.
