Hey all. Just got my first diesel a few months ago and figured i'd post up on here and see what i can learn.
I have a lot of questions about this truck, specifically how to make it better. Right now the only mods really performance wise are the exhaust and the air filter. I tow a 12,000 lb boat with this truck on a regular basis and need to make it get up and go a little better, right now it's working hard to cruise at 60+ mph.
I'd like to add some custom gauges as i hate only knowing the bare minimum about an engine~ any recomendations on a good setup?
What about the controllers, i hear a lot about the bully dogs, what would work best in the application of increasing mpg, or increasing HP when i need it?
Thanks all in advance~!

Welcome to DTR. I wonder if your truck is running good right now. I pull a 11.7K lb high profile fifth wheel with a 01' model. It doesn't "struggle" to make 60 down the freeway. You might want to have it checked out. You should be making 100 ft lbs of torque more than I am stock.

I dunno if it so much "Struggles" as i feel it should just have more power than it does. I'm going to be towing it from Houston to Venice eventually, and want to make sure I optimize it for a long trip like that while towing.

Yea I know, I was doing one at the car wash last week when I detailed my truck. But hey, at least I got the rain to come close, I need to improvise now.
We need to find a way to keep that high pressure away from us for awhile.
