Smile Newb from S.E.Texas

Hello everyone,,, Let me say I just found this site and it appears to be full of good stuff for a NEWBIE like myself,,,,,, I'm new to the diesel truck world,,,, so i'll give a little insight as to how I got the bug,,,,, Here goes,,,, the way I got bit was a good Friend of mine has an 04.5 2wd laramie that we used to go get My Marine Sons Car back from 29 Palms CA, @ Christmas cause He deployed to Iraq in Feb, and I loved it!!!!! for pulling power and fuel economy

Ive always wanted one,,, so as of a month ago,,, now I've finally got one,,, LOLOL an 06 Dodge 3500 quadcab FWD W/5.9L Manual Tranny, have added,, TS performance MP-8, 5" Exhaust Turbo back, Banks High Ram intake, & Cold air, W/Super Scoop,,,

Truck responded well to add ons throttle response is much improved and power band picked up really well from lower RPM.. all the way up!!!! having fun with my new toy!!!!!

I pull a couple of trailers for work and a couple for play,,, the heaviest has a GVWR of 16.8K,,, Race Car trailer,,, I pulled it a couple of weeks ago and it did well,,,,, I have since added the High Ram/cold air intakes and we race again on the 15th,, we are car # 5,,, http://www.ascsracing.com/racenotes....=58236&yr=2009
my question is I want to finsh my upgrade by finding an earlier model Stock turbo Holeset 3 or earlier that has a little more boost than my factory Holeset 2,,, get it reworked/tweaked,,,, and get the banks intercooler, & TS Performance telemetry to monitor the EGT'S/Boost/ Etc. to finish it off,,,,

What do yall think?????,,, or am I all hosed up @ this point

Welcome to the DTR!

Good start on the mods...

Go for the gauges and upgrade your clutch next.

I would skip the intercooler for now.

Also, a Smarty will compliment your MP-8 very well.

Welcome to the website River Rat!

You asked about the boost for the Holset Turbo on your 2006. IMO,....they are pretty well done and "off their MAP" at around 30lbs of boost. On my 2006the turbo would hit 35lbs but it wasn't making any power way up there.

Thumbs up Good enough!!!!!

Thanks for the reply John P,,,,,

I Really like this site,,,, it is very cool,,, Pulling the race car trailer @ (12-13K lb +),,,, Im getting around 10 MPG,,, this was figured with a De-liar,,,, the old fashioned way,,,,,, and this was before adding the intakes,,,, gonna see next weekend if the bolt on Goodies make any difference,,,, The best I've gotten is almost 19 MPG empty
I have access to a full service Machine shop and was thinking of upgrading a good used turbo for future projects err,,, thats after I've upgraded my clutch!!!!!! Also,,, I've been told a good aftermarket three piece exhaust manifold would also lower my EGT's

Man this stuff is addictive!!!!!!!!!!
