New Warranty Guidelines for the LP and VP44

Hey guys,

thought you'd like to know Dodge is know requesting service records before granting warranty on fuel system pumps. I ran into a fellow today at the dodge dealer who was ****** because dodge would not warranty his VP 44, because he had no service records that the filter had been changed every 24,000 km. I talked to the dealer and this came into effect Nov 19.2003. I guess those who don't keep records should either start or fake some past records? :-X This is the case for at least Canada, not sure about the states the service manager could say for sure.

They have a email posted from Chrysler Canada taped to the front service desk. The guy ended up paying for the VP 44 in a 01, with full warranty left.

This is why my 02 dodge will be the last truck I buy from dodge, they tell you how great and long their warranty is and the frist time I took my truck in for a very weak lift pump they would not change it,so I had to buy one myself truck had 34,000 miles at the time.So in short that great 5yr. 100,000 mile warranty is not worth the paper it's printed on.That is why I belong to this great site so I can learn as much about this truck and fix it myself and it be done right the first TIME.I will take my truck to cummins southern plains in houston when and if something brakes and I can't fix it myself.Sorry for the long post but this warranty stuff is a very sore subject with me. >

They did not void my warranty because the box fell off before I took it in.The thing that really made me mad was as soon has they got it in the shop they had the hood up just looking for something. It's like they just want to find something so they can void your warranty it's almost like dodge is giving kickbacks to the dealers that do. >

There are dealers out there that arent so bad. I live about 50 miles from one. They even install aftermarket stuff. Call BD and ask them if they list the dealers that sell and install their products. It might be worth a drive or you may be near one.

There are quite a few guys around here driving Dodge, because Ford would not warranty a "Dusted" powerstroke caused by a poor filtration system. A warranty is nothing more than a sales tool. Also, find another dealer.

Re:New Warranty Guidelines for the LP and VP44

My warranty has and has not payed for itself. It has because it replaced my complete AC system at 36K, the tranny electronics at 20K, and one lift pump at 10K(and I had to fight them on that one). But, when I asked them to fix a broken door handle, they wouldn't do it. Or when I asked them to fix the alignment on my headlights, wouldn't do it. Or the squeek in the front end. Instantly attributed it to the tires. Or the messed up drivers side mirror. Once again, the tires. If it's broke and I can fix it, then you can guarantee I'm gonna fix it. The only thing I can't fix is something internal on the tranny/engine/transfer case. That's it.

the problem with a warranty is it does't matter which one you deal with it's all the same Chevy, Ford. Dodge and yes the ricers too. It's about proffits and me only stuff. In my case I happen to have a Dealer within 5 miled that is great and will go out of their way to earn your business they fight with the factory to make it right.
