New in WA
Hi all. Been lurking here for almost three years. I started my research here before buying my '06 4X4 with the auto trans. I'm always trying to learn more about the truck since its my first diesel and I'm trying to learn what signs of trouble to look for with the engine as well as the truck in general. No problems yet, but I bought the truck new and I only have 20K on it.
Lots of guys here are towing VERY heavy loads with their trucks - We're not even close to the tow rating but by my wife and I generally use ours to tow a 27 foot travel trailer or a ski boat. Used to get by with a gasser and although it was a good truck ('96 3/4 ton chev, small block, 4:10RE) it was a dog in the passes here in Washington which aren't even that steep. What a difference the Cummins makes and at least 50% better mpg.
I've learned a lot reading the posts here and I have added a few mods. The truck does everything I want it to do very well so I'm not interested in more HP or torque for now. Most are for making sure this thing lasts as long as possible. I added a set of isspro gauges in the pillar pod (EGT, trans temp, boost), BD fuel press. warning light, FASS 95 pump/filter, and flushed the cooling system and put the Fleetguard in. I'm thinking of going with full synthetics next. All of the work was done by The Powershop in Enumclaw, WA.
