New Twins

Went out to J.R. Adkins home last weekend to have a new set of twins installed. The top turbo is an HX-40 with a 14cm housing and the bottom turbo is a "Big Air" HT4B. The turbos have been completely modded in the inside. They spoolup as fast as my HX-35 and HT3B. The big charger did not hurt the spoolup. I had time today to do some testing on this set-up. For fuel I'm running J.R.'s stage 5 injectors and a comp box, the box was set at level 2x5 for the test. The first test was to check the between stages pressure or to see what the big charger was doing. At 60psi the big turbo was making 30psi and at 70psi it was making 40psi. Next I set the gauge up to read drive pressure. At 65psi I had 54 pounds of back pressure, not to bad for running the small housing on the HX-40. I'm very happy with my new set-up. I would recommend J.R. to anyone interested in looking for turbos, injectors or twin turbo set-ups. He is definitely a first rate guy to deal with. Thanks again to J.R. and Ryan for the install.

Brent glad you are happy. Here are a couple of pictures.

This one was before we were completly finished. The battery and tray had yet to be put in and the the finish put on the charge air pipe.

Question for yall since I see the pic...Where do you put the 2nd batt. since the intake tubes and air filter takes up that space?

Awesome setup by the way...Course everything that JR does is great.

Well would it fit with a HT3B with a Hx35 with a AFE filter?

Good numbers! I still believe that J.R.'s Holset turbos are unmatched in the market for our application. I can't wait untill you get that thing on a dyno and see where you're at. I'm really curious if you break 600hp with that rig. Looks like you got a nice setup and that thing should scream.

There's really no need for a 2nd battery anyhow unless your doing a LOT of subzero starts. All my trucks and tractors have been swapped from a 2 batt setup to a single . Ive found you run into more problems and expence with 2 batteries, because if one battery starts running low it will actually suck the life out of the other and youll end up being out 2 batts .
Just food for thought,
Scott
