New Turbo - Strange Noise
The dealer put a new turbo on my truck yesterday, and now I have noticed a strange noise when the turbo is building pressure...
When the turbo builds pressure, it sounds like a grinding or bad bearing in the turbo. It doesn't do it at all when the truck is revved in nuetral, and it doesn't make the sound when the turbo is maintaining a constant boost pressure. As I said, it only makes the grinding sound when building pressure.
It isn't very loud, but definitely noticeable to anyone who knows their truck. I thought I had read about someone else having this same concern, but I am unable to find the thread.
I have read that the new turbo may sound different that the older ones, and I have also read that the vein for the variable gate is different on these new turbos.
Can anyone comment on this noise?

I've seen a couple posts where the dealership techs are not buttoning everything up nice and tight like they should be when they do these turbo replacements. You would think that with as many turbos they have replaced that it would be really easy for them by now....
