New truck!!!

Hey Guys,
I just made the plunge!!! 2003 2500 QCLB 4x4 6 speed 31,000 miles, bone stock! An old man had it, and couldn't drive it too much. I drove it home last night...never had any vehicles with TORQUE!!!! I will post pics today...HAHAHAHA, I am gitty like a school girl!! Let me know if you guys have any tips for a vehicle that has been used so little (sitting around alot). I have been reading this forum for almost 2 years gathering info, I looked at every major craigslist city and autotrader everyday until the right truck popped up...to think I almost fell for an automatic a few years ago! Keep on passing the knowledge so newbees like me can figure these beasts out! Thanks again!!

Rob

Congrats!! Sounds like one heck of a great find.
I would change ALL fluids right away. (not coolant though) Also change the fuel filter and air filter. This will get you to be able to set up the correct intervals for changing. I would put some good injector cleaner like Power Service and hook to a heavy trailer and put 100 miles (or more) on it. Work it hard for a little while, it will make the Cummins happy!!

After that I would just do normal maint. and you should be just fine.

+1 Fluid and filters and you're set.

Be ready for the lift pump. I would not hesitate to add a 2 mic fuel filter, it will assist in keeping the injectors alive longer and a very easy add on for a manual trans.

i just bought one 2005, 2500, 2 wheel drive with 41K miles. old man had to die for me to get it.

changed all the fluids, also had to change the Serpentine belt.

only problem i have had with it is wind noise over the driver door.
otherwise a great truck.

gets great fuel mileage. got 22.6 mpg on my last trip
