new truck

Well I went and did it. I traded the 02 for a brand new 09 quad cab DRW with a 6 speed manual.
Price was good I paid less for the 09 than I did for the 02.
The old truck had over 200k on it and only 2 new VP44 both under warranty. So I can’t complain.
What kind of problems can I expect from the new ride?

You can expect the usual course of emmissions trouble. Unless of course they fall off... then its just smiles smiles smiles cause the 6.7 is really a great engine.

Have to say the 6.7 is a real sweet engine once the EGR and DPF is removed.

So I don’t need to be concerned about anything in particular? Just drive normal.
No lift pump that needs a gage, no VP 44 to go out. WOW

If all I plan to do is leave it stock is it necessary that I add gages?
I plan to add them for piece of mind (later)but I felt that they were required on the 2002.

If it's a 4X4, check your ball joints before the end of your warranty. More than likely, they'll be bad. If it's a two wheel drive, no worries there. I think the '09's still have the junky A/C we all have had the pleasure of dealing with. Lot's of threads you can go over about A/C problems.

What A/C problems do you speak of? I got over 36k on my 06 with no A/C problems. I did have to have the blend door replaced under warranty but thats it as far as A/C goes.

I used to have a '03 Quad Cab 3500 4X4, and that spent two and a half days at the dealer fixing the A/C. That was way back, and I can't remember the actual problem other than it didn't work (and I live in South Texas). Fixed under warranty. My '06 Megacab 3500 4X4 A/C never really worked that well, and I took it to the dealer under warranty, and I know they had to recharge the system, and I think they changed out the blend door, but that was a while back, and I can't remember for sure all that they did. That time they had it over night. The A/C works allright, but I think it could be better, but my warranty has been long since gone. It is a known problem with our A/C's, and there are many, many threads and posts about the problem. Just try to utilize your warranty while you can. It can be an expensive fix after your warranty is over.

You got an 08 with only 7k on it, must not do a lot of traveling. My 08 just flipped 30000 last week. No troubles yet and over 15000 on the deletes, still worry free.
