new tires and wheels w/ pics

They are Incubus Recoils 18x8.5 w/ 5.22" backspacing. The tires are Toyo open country at 285/75/18E with a load capacity of 4080lbs. I have around 100 miles on them at this point and it snowed this morning a little and then got sunny and dry, so here are my observations compared to the tires I was running. I had Hercules Terra Trac 315/70/17D that I like a lot. The Toyos are 1.6" narrower and suppose to be the same height, but are a little more than an inch taller - some due to wear of the hercules and some due to one of them is not the advertised height.

Dry traction - Toyos 7 vs Hercules 9 - remember the Hercs were 1.6" wider though.
Light snow traction - Toyo 9 vs Hercules 9 - side note..the toyos seem to step out easier around a corner which probably has to do with the stiffer sidewall.
Ride - Toyos 8 vs Hercules 9 - the actual ride is similar, but the difference is the small stuff like concrete seems, manholes, ridges from concrete graders where the Toyos show their E rating and are much more abrupt.
Handling - Turn in - Toyos 7 vs Hercules 9 - road holding - Toyos 8 vs Hercules 7
Stopping - on dry - Toyo 8 vs Hercules 8 - on snow - Toyo 8 vs Hercules 9

I realize that these are not the same tire and it's not comparing apples to apples, but it's comparing my truck before to my truck after. If Hercules made the size I wanted I would buy them over the Toyos, but then in the same tire they might not actually be any better. But I think I will be happy with the Toyos. It's not that I don't like them, but the Hercules are the 2nd best tire I have ever run on a 4x4 in 20 years.

Truck looks good. I like the size, what is the actual measured hight of the new tires? Try and test them again after you get a few more miles on them. From my experience tires perform much better after they take set.

looks like about 35.25". With the weight of the truck they are right at 34" measured vertical.

Didn't mean to make you go out in the cold to measure your tires but thanks! I have never washed a vehicle in freezing temps, does the water freeze on the truck or around on the ground?

It's in the garage, so I didn't go out in the cold.
As far as washing, yes, it freezes right to the truck at those temps. It's not like I washed it by hand in the driveway though. I went to a quarter wash and sprayed it. The soap sticks to the truck and freezes and then when you switch to rinse the soap comes off in chunks. Better than phoenix though. In the summer, my brother in law washes his truck in the shade of his garage and the water running down the drive never makes it to the street - it evaporates due to the heat.

That's a good look. I like the proportions and the stance!

hopefully with the high load rating they'll last a long time with daily driving duties.

An additional note, hopefully the handling and turn-in capabilities of the Toyos will get better once they've had the opportunity to scrub-in a bit more ... maybe by 500 miles or so.

I had more than one windsheild crack after driving into a casrwash in Phoenix in the summertime.
