New tires...295's?
New tires...295's?
Just a quick question for those of you in the know...I'm looking at a 99 2500 4X4 that's going to need some tires. I'm going to try and work the numbers on it this weekend. Any way, it's got Mickey Thompson alluminum wheels on it that I think are 16X10's and currently wearing worn out BFG MT 305/70r16's. I'm not a big fan of that size...a little too wide for my liking. Will 295/75r16's work on a rim that wide? I wish it had 16X8's, then I'd just run 285's and be done.
i had 295/75/16s on 10" wheels on my 99 and i loved it.... they were "D" rated but never had a problem. there're pics of that truck with the 295s on TDR still under the same name.
they did kick some caca up on the side of the truck but i thought they looked "right" even with 4.5" back spacing. they also wore really evenly and slowly.
8" wide with 285s looks nice too and is a bit more sensible for a work/towing truck.... particularly if you have 3.55:1 gearing.
