I have a 94 2500 two wheel drive truck and was wondering if anyone knows if the new/newer style wheel will fit? Is there a difference between the 4wd and 2wd wheels. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes.

They are 17 inch rims, your originals were 16 inch, they'll fit no problem.
(unlike some of the later 16 inch rims which usually needed some grinding to fit)

I have some 3rd Gen alloys on my '95. They fit great. The only problem I have had is that the front lower shock mount bolts will grind into or knock off the weights on the inside of the front wheels when the steering is at full lock.

I just put 3rd gens on my '01 yesterday. Fit just fine.

Just for the record, the newer 2nd Gen alloys will NOT fit your truck. ie it 99-02

How so? There is a twin to my truck, 95 reg. cab long box 2500, around town with the later 2nd gen style wheels on. I have talked to the owner of the truck and he claims to have no problems with them...

I thought the drums just needed some fins ground down to clear the wheel properly?

Yeah with some minor mods you can make them fit. I bought a set of 01 alloys and went to bolt them on. My truck is a 97 4x4. Not only would the rear drums have needed to be ground down, the drivers front steering knuckle would have needed a very small amount of grinding. I decided to just go ahead and sell the rims. and mount the tires on my factory chrome steel rims.

For 2000-2002 aluminum wheels on a 94-99 truck, it take about .125" off the outside diamater of the drums, and grinding of the steering knuckle, as well as removing the tie rod end boot shield (you can grind it but it will spin around and rub the wheel eventually).
Been there, done that. The third gen wheels fit great, just a little tight around the centers. Done that too.
