New set of Nitto Terra Grappler 305x70x17's
Well I've needed new tires to replace the factory ones and finially bit the bullet. I debated on size for a long while and settled on the Nitto Terra Grappler 305x70x17. I liked that they were load rated E and were also about 500# per tire more than the BFG's, Procomp X-AT's, or Toyo's.
Anyway, I took some before and after picts and thought I would post them to aid in anyone else wanting to make the same move.

First impressions...
You can notice the size difference imediately. They fill the wheelwell out but don't stick out too wide. Stepping into and out of the truck you can tell there is an extra inch or 2 of difference and driving down the road you feel like you sit up a little higher.
The ride is pretty good. They make a slight difference in noise but not enough to complain about. Right now they are all sitting about 55psi.
I thought that a tire with that much difference to stock would change engine RPM's but I've seen nothing of the sort. Before I dropped the truck off doing 60 mph in 6th gear I was running 1900 rpm. Afterwards I was running the same rpm at the same speed so if there is a difference it is very minimal. Taking off and accelerating is slightly different but not worth complaing about.
I'll comment on traction and offroad ability after I drive it some more.
Anyway, I'm stoked about the new look my truck has. It puts a smile on my face every time I see it.
I'll try and take some more picts with better light.

Yeah, I'm also running these exact tires and at the exact size as you. I truely do love them. Wear has been even and to a minimum. Ride quality is great; especially when inflated to 65 psi when towing heavy. I feel the traction has been good, but I really can't comment on offroad traction. Though traction seems ok while on dirt roads.
But as for the wear issue; rotate, rotate, rotate. Rotation is the only way to keep large tires wearing evenly.

Did you take in consideration the larger tire size will through the speedometer off.
Looks good with the larger tires.

did you recalibrate the speedo for the larger tires? could be the reason why you are not seeing any decrease in RPM in relation to speed.....just a thought....the comp might still think it has stock tires haha

Just got some 285/75/17s and love them also. I was worried about going wider and dropping my mileage. They are little under 34" and can't get over how quite they are. I was at the ironman ATV race in Crawfordsville this past weekend and got to test them out in the soupy stuff because we parked in a corn field. I was impressed with them for an AT tire. Just remember to spin them a bit to help them clean themselves. 1500 rpm at 60 is nice. Recalled with smarty jr!

Thats what I have on mine.I was just about 4 mph off on mine when I checked it with a GPS and the dealer was able to recalibrate it but the shop foreman said that only the 07 and up had trucks could be adjusted for that large of a tire.
I love mine but would maybe go a little smaller next time since I tow 10,000 in the mountains fairly often and it does make a difference when pulling.
