New plow on the Dodge
Well I reciently bit the bullet for a brand new Boss 9' super duty straight blade plow. Had it installed for free, as Boss was running a special at the time. Great product and dealer suppert/service. I will not miss plowing in a company truck that was an 05 F-350 with the 6.0 Power Stroke. All I plow are Large commercial accounts, that take hours and hours if not days from begining to end. I once again love the low end GRUNT that these engines produce, and not to mention the fuel effiency. In the Ford 6.0 I would have to fill the 34 gal tank every 15-18 hours of plow time, and it seemed like either the engine would get warm when driving to and from the accounts, or if it was a heavy snow fall high fuel consumption and high transmissions temps for the 5R110 trans....
The last snow fall here I ran my Dodge Cummins for 19 hours straight, and it never missed a beat, purred like a kitten, and only went thru about a half of tank of diesel. Very impressed, hopefully it will be a good year for "in pocket income."
As a side note, I have to imagine im not the only one pushing snow here in the winter. I know what its like to be up for days, working your pants off to make a few bucks. Repairing plows and equipment outside during a blizzard... But to all who are pushing that white powder hours on end, please be safe, and stay alert! Everyone have a Merry Christmas and a great Newyear!
