Hope you guys can help again.

I have been hearing an intermittant high pitched whine. (it is not the tubo whine as I know what that is) This is louder and seems to be more centered in the truck or more toward the drivers side. It happens the loudest on deceleration and I have heard it under braking. There does not seem to be a rythm to it so I can't tell if it is the engine or driveline. I have one code that is coming up P0480, which has to do with something in the cooling fan low speed relay whatever that does. Also it is not constant enough to be able to give more info at this time.

Any ideas or similar experience?

PS I am also in a little post deer season depression. I have to wait another year now to go after them again. But my wife reminded me that it will only be a week or so and I will be out in the woods getting ready for nest season.

Next time you hear it and it's warm enough outside not to get frost bite, turn your truck off and using a long shoe lace or small string, tie the radiator cooling fan to stop it from turning just long enough to determine if the fan is the source of the noise. Don't let it idle that way long, but you should be able to drive it a couple of miles without overheating.

With cold weather and all... Have you considered the hydraulic pump (power steering)? They're likely to be pretty entertaining till things warm up a bit.
