www.dodgeparts.com should offer it for less. Still a lot of moola. I paid a little more for my Garmin model with lifetime map upgrades.

It really is a crock, I'll never by another in-dash gps if I don't have too. Upgrading is where they get you.

Funny thing is that the postcard we got about this was letting us know that they drastically dropped the price down to that $149.00. It was really a rip off in previous years.....

I bought my truck in June 2010 and the Nav system was already out of date and Dodge would NOT give a free update on the Navteq system. The 2011 Nav systems were Garmin with lifetime free upgrades.
I just ordered the 2013 upgrade and it will be delivered on Monday according to the tracking site on Fedex.
I would not normally waste my money but I did run into a few problems while returning from Arizona last week.
I will try to post my experience with this update once I complete.

I think on-board navigation systems are a huge waste of money and time, and are really nothing more than a gimmick. Unless you're four wheeling back in the deep woods somewhere, how can you get so lost on a public roadway that you need a satellite to find yourself?

AAA will give me free maps.

For more detailed navigation, I use MS Streets and Trips in my lap top.

Never been around Chicago have you? There's people there, if you force them to change their speed or lane, they are lost. They know they need this lane for this long, and that's it.

Probably scare you to know just how many people can't read a map. My grandmother will tell you to turn left, then turn the map to match the direction you are now going.

When my sister moved to Raleigh, My dad tried to follow the AAA maps my grandma got for them, and ended up 30 miles out of the way before realizing they missed their last turn. Which I can almost understand, considering that north might have been left, or right, or down, or top left, but never where it should be.

After they got it figured out, he said my directions were spot-on. DUH, I kinda knew the area!

I have been to Chicago! I rode my Harley there a few years back for a medical conference. I had a great time, saw some great sights, and ate some wonderful pizza. It was a great trip. My AAA maps got me there and back, and all over town without a problem.

Your grandma has the right idea. Turning the map according to your direction of travel is calling "orienting". It's a technique I learned in the Boy Scouts about..... well, doesn't matter how many years ago.
