I'm a new member who just joined yesterday. I don't have a Dodge diesel, my Dodge is a 2004 Dakota v6 with a 5speed that I use as a daily driver. My toy is a 1987 Pontiac Trans Am with a 355 and 5 speed. I was a transport refrigeration mechanic for 35 years and retired 3 1/2 years ago. I live in So Cal. I don't know if I'll get a diesel truck or not. I like the diesels, but I discovered that I don't drive "daily" since I retired. Except for vacations, I just don't put enough mileage on my vehicles to expect to need to replace any of them. I bought the Dakota used with 30k miles on the clock, and in 3 1/2 years have put on only 22k miles. I put maybe 3000 miles a year on the Firebird.

I joined because a friend has a 1992 Dodge Ram with a Cummins and is having trans problems. He called and I told him I would do some research for him. I was referred here by someone on another Dodge forum who suggested this site was the best for Dodge diesel questions.

Thanks Dave. I saw the p.m. and sent you an email before I saw your name on this post. Thanks a lot for your help. I've sent him an email, and I'll try giving him a call tomorrow morning, but may have trouble catching him tomorrow. I think he is bringing his son up to a local camp to work on staff this summer here in the local So Cal mountains.
