New to me 04 with multiple codes - APPS issue?

I just bought an early 04 (January build date) QC 4x4 with an Auto. 113k miles. When I rolled from the dealer the truck ran great. In fact the dealer told me to take the truck and drive it for the day, which I did. Put over 125 miles on a test drive. Bought it.

Here no less then one day later the MIL comes on. Being an ex very problematic Dodge Durango owner I flipped the key and pulled a bunch of codes. I have looked most up on Wiki and placed them below.

I'm now obviously in learning mode but used to be a wrench 20 years ago pre computer so I get a wrap around the issues if I can persuade a little help here.

Obviously I have a taillight warranty. Truck looks a drives showroom new even with miles.

OK here they are...

1757 Governor Pressure Above 3psi In Gear With 0MPH
1762 Governor Pressure Sensor Offset Volts Too Low or High

713 Trans Temp Sensor, Voltage Too High

0868 Governor Pressure Sensor Volts Too High

2122 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch D Circuit Low Input

2121 APPS Conformance Error

So I take it the APPS is bad? I have searched this here and see this sensor fails on the common.

The truck will run fine and the light will turn off then the MIL will come back and it will go to idle and the foot feed does not respond. Is this sensor in the foot feed? Turn off and start it again and we can move again. 20 miles and several starts later the MIL will turn back off.

Might be time for a FSM. I am not kicking myself. Every used vehicle has a issue hidden. It how they become for sale used.

Thanks in advance for any help on this. (I just handed you a beer.)

I would also replace governor pressure solenoid and transducer. Very easy to do just need drop trans pan.
1 - PRESSURE SENSOR
2 - PRESSURE SOLENOID
3 - GOVERNOR

Some time if you have bad batteries and the voltage is low it will show low voltage on the sensors. Check the batteries.

Thanks for the help.

The Governor housing is apparently built into the valve body and according to the dealer the Pressure Transducer is a common failure and usually takes the Pressure Solenoid with it. The dealer wants $74 for the Transducer, $118 for the solenoid, and $16 for a gasket. Once the pan is down I was told 10 min. Job.

I ordered the Apps from http://www.dodgecumminsapps.com/index.html another great find on this site.

Saved me some aggravation and money by just signing up!

Thanks,

I went out yesterday morning and stuck my Fluke one both batts and had 12.7 volts. Maybe I should check the min voltage while cranking?

How do I reset the codes w/o a reader that resets? Disconnect the batteries for a certain time frame?

I can search that out I suppose.

Since you have to drop the pan, change the tranny filter. Every filter I have ever bought ( more than 10) comes with two gaskets......besides I have never used them as the gasket is reusable. Sensors take 10 min. to replace......3 7/16 bolts 2 torx # 25 screws. Tranny filter is two torx # 25 screws. You will also need about 7 quarts of AFT+4 to refill the pan unless you plan to salvage your existing fluid. As for the APPS.........get one from timbow01.......about $160.00......modded .......better........takes 15 min. to install........he is fantastic. Never mind......I didn't know he had a site.......you will be very pleased........great guy to work with......great product.

Thanks!

I picked up the Transducer, sensor, pan filter, and re-useable gasket this morning at the Dodge dealer. I am awaiting Timbo to ship me the apps. The truck is not driveable in it's current state. I just never know when it's going to "dead pedal" and then how much screwing around to get it to move again.

The experience I have with the APPS is on a 6speed, so no trans codes, but 2121, 2122 and 2123 are sure fire APPS codes. There's a bunch of threads on here about it. You can try cleaning the contacts at the plug in to the APPS, not likely the problem. Re learn the APPS voltage (another thread). If this doesn't cure it, it's most likely a worn out APPS.

If the truck wasn't shifting bad before the dead pedal, I'd try the APPS first then see if the trans codes go away.
Only saying this because the 03 6speed I worked on had a couple other totally unrealted codes pop up at the same time the 2121 and 2122 came up and they never came back after the repair.
