New here wonderin if somethin is normal

Hi im brand new here and i own a 99 dodge 1 ton diesel dually with 4:10 gears. From 0-45 thru truck will move considerin its stock and a 99 but after 65 or 70 it just sucks the hell out of fuel and makes more sound not sure if thats normal or not. I dont know what the WOT psi is but i know idleing it between 10 to 12. Im currently deployed but when i get back im puttin a inline auxiallry bd diesel fuel pump in it to improve to 20-28 psi so it says and im also equipping it with a edge juice with attitude with some other nice cosmetics. Im hopin this will really help and prayin i got a good stock trani but any input about if this is normal or not would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

First off, fill out your sig with your truck info; that way we all know what your dealing with. As for the fuel economy between 65 and 70, that's probably also normal. You're running 4.10's and I'm not sure of your exact tire size, but I'll bet you're only running what 245's, 265's? If that's the case between 65 and 70 mph your rpm's are what, 2100? 2200? Maybe higher? These motors are the most economical at around 1800 rpm. Anything over 1900 rpm just sucks the fuel down. On mine, If I keep my rpm's at 1800 to 1900, I'll see 18 mph. If I run faster and the rpm's are spending much of the time up at around 2000 to 2100 (that's about 80 mph for me) my mileage drops down to 16 mpg. Of course I have a few boxe's stacked that can effect these numbers + or -.

As for the lift pump, I second the not getting the BD aux system. For just a little more you can get a Raptor 100. And just a bit more than that and you can get the Airdog or a FASS.

Sounds like you're hitting higher rpms where the truck falls out of it's power band.

This is good advice. I spent alot of time reading around the debates of what is "good" fuel pressure. It seems most agree what is more important than it being really high is that it doesn't drop low at WOT.

It seems sometimes people associate high pressures with adequate flow, which is not necessarily the case..

As long as you have positive fuel pressure it really doesn't matter what your pressure is. People seem to "like" the number 15 but it doesn't mean anything really.
