New Handgun
Saturday afternoon I bought myself a nice, pretty Glock 22 for concealed carry. It came complete with factory night sights and two 15 round "Restricted LE/GOVT Only" magazines.
Can't wait to get over to the gun range and put some rounds through it.
Just thought I'd let you guys share in my excitement. Glock and load baby!!

That's Hoss. What range do you go to? Backwoods Traps on 380 in Little Elm is a pretty nice place to go to and not to far from L'ville. They have a pistol range (watch out for the IDPA sessions ), a 50 and a 100 yard rifle range and all the shotgun sports (skeet, trap, 5 stand and sporting clays).

Hmmmm....that's good to know. I've never heard of Backwoods Traps. I usually go to the indoor range at Bass Pro Shops here in Grapevine simply because it's cheap and it's close to my house. Unfortunately, they won't let you practice draw and fire techniques from your holster though....which I think is critical for a CHL holder.
I'll have to look into Backwoods Traps....and in fact I'd like to start getting involved in some of those IDPA sessions. Do you have any contact info for them?

Nice pistol.
I assume those 15 round clips are now legal since the assault weapons ban expired.
Is that correct?
If so I may be in the market for a new pistol myself.

Hoss,
You should really like the glock 22. I have carried one on duty for twelve years now and it is flawless. I also carry a glock 27 as well for my back up weapon. Both of which are .40 cal. Both have night sites and my model 27 has a laser site which is very intiminating.
As far as i'm concerned there is no finer weapon than a glock. That is what I trust my life with every day.
Oh, and by the way I just bought a new ruger vaquero 45 colt in stainless w/ivory grips. A nice litle cannon.

You are correct, the Kimbers are rather pricey. I bought mine a while back, before they got so high. Nice package, with some custom stuff you would have to add aftermarket to most of the others.
The Glocks are great. I ran lots of ammo thru them without any probs.

I was just messing with you. I think Kimber makes an awesome gun...even though they are expensive. I've just never really been a 1911 guy.
I can buy a Glock and it will shoot well right out of the box. You can't say that for all 1911 style guns. In fact, other than a few very minor accessories I leave my Glock stock. Night sights, a steel guide rod and a Jentra plug to plug that hole in the end of the grip are about all I put on them.

I'll take a Glock over any other "off the shelf" semi-auto on the market. I have a G17 that is about 12 years old - I've pumped tons of ammo through it, most of it my own reloads, and it has functioned flawlessly. The only drawback is that it's too big to easily carry concealed.
The department issued G19s a few years ago - I'd rather have the .40 caliber but it's still a great weapon.
