New guy from WA

I bought my 2002 Dodge Ram Diesel truck not too long ago, Until recently the reverse light sometimes work but not all the time. If I throw it in reverse the light only comes on for a split second until I wiggle the shifter then the light would turn on.

Pull the back up light switch out, it is located on the transmission, squirt some electrical contact cleaner in the end where the ball bearing is. The plastic end that plugs into the wiring will rotate. Turn it a few turns, then check your lights again. You might have to do the sequence a couple of times. Mine stopped working, so I replaced it, $65.00 for a new switch. Then I cleaned the old one and it works fine.

My 6 speed didn't lose any fluid. Not sure if an auto would or not.

I don't know if the corrosion inside comes from the switch leaking water through the plastic end or from condensation inside the tranny. Might not hurt to seal the plastic/metal joint with RTV or something.
