I just bought a 04 QC 4x4 HO and I have done some reading and research on this site. WHat a great site. I pick up the truck on the 18th and am ready to do a few things. Air Raid High Flow intake, 5" exhaust and a power puck. The last thing will be the tires. I am thinkg about taller. Not necessarily wider but taller tires. I am a flatlander and would like to see the rpms drop a little. What is reasonable? Here is the new/old truck. I also have been reading about the block heater, If it does not have one where is the best place to start? But the truck is from Colorado it should have one right? Oh yeah what is up the leveling kits. It looks like it needs one.

Welcome to DTR! If you can afford it, go with a full leveling kit from Skyjacker or Lorenz. I went the cheap way out with some spacers when I installed 35's on my truck. They are okay, but a full leveling kit looks better IMO. I have the 4.10's and the auto in my truck, and the 35's dropped the RPM's from 2300 at 70MPH to 1900 at 70MPH.

There are lots of leveling kits and everybody has a different opinion but hell bent steel has a good one and its cheap "$130" or so and it will do just fine. As far as the puck goes i would lean away from that. If your not looking for a whole lot of power i would go with an Edge Juice or Edge EZ they will both turn them bigger tires with no problem and add a little MPG too. Also check out the intakes theres a lot of them to AFE is very good and very popular. This is all just my .02 GOOD LUCK

Welcome to the site!! I have an '05. If this is your first diesel, I would drive it for a while before adding any engine mods. How many miles does the truck have? The heater is already there, although it may not have the cord. It probably does though if the truck was originally bought in Colorado. You can get a cord for about $35.

Welcome to the site!! I also agree to drive it stock a little while to see how it performs. Perhaps before you do the mods, add some gauges which will allow you to see the benefits of some of the mods you are looking at. Also, driving stock for a while will let you see what fuel mileage you get now, and what you get when you add the larger tires and a lift. Once you go to a diesel, you'll never go back.

The truck has right at 90,000. So I assume it is now broke in. The dealership my brother works at looked it over and said everything is in good shape. I think the biggest thing I have learned from this site is to slow down. That will be hard to do. I drive about 9 miles to work everyday but the speeds are right at 60 so I am not too worried about the gas mileage for that it is just when I get on the turnpike or interstate.

you are in trouble now, there are a couple of people (like me) who will probably talk you into spending money on the truck and forcing you to post pics as you go along!
sorry in advance! LOL
