Re:New Ford 6.0 siteings!

They are having their share of problems with the 6.0, that's for sure.

I feel sorry for the guys who've plunked down a big chunk of money for a truck and then have it spend so much time in the shop. Hopefully Ford will get it worked out--they've got to be seriously ****** at Navistar right now--and when they do, the 6.0 has the potential to be a great engine.

But if they don't, they might come knocking at Cummins door. They might anyway. Lessee...Ford truck, Cummins engine....probably could sell quite a few of those. You know that thought has crossed more than one mind at Ford.

Re:New Ford 6.0 siteings!

As soon as I found out Ford was putting an International engine into their trucks I knew there would be problems.
Phox, how does Ford own Cummins or were you just joking around?

Re:New Ford 6.0 siteings!

DuallyJeff, Ford has always used international diesels. The old powerstroke, the old 7.3 non-turboed, the really old 6.9 non-turboed, all International engines.

Hey Luke:
[removed by admin]

I suggest that when posting a response to someone, you read the rules of this site AGAIN, and use diplomacy. It'll go along way. I'll let your posts stand forever as long as you keep it clean. As soon as you go for the jugular such as in this post, it's gone. Rethink your response, and then repost if you'd like. (Jack)

Re:New Ford 6.0 siteings!

Whoa, whoa, whoa Looks like I hit a nerve without even trying. I have great respect for all of our technicians. They have a hard job that I could never do. All I meant by what I said was, I wouldn't want a truck that had been torn apart to that extent by people who really have no experience with that engine yet. In my experience with GM and DC, they usually would just swap engines out and tear it down back at headquarters on a deal like that when it was a brand new truck. There are just waaaaaaaay too many pieces to take apart that no one has any experience with yet. Sorry if I offended anyone :-[

Re:New Ford 6.0 sightings!

I saw those photos on the PSD site.

The amazing thing is; many of their members are furious at hearing about all the people having problems, calling them trolls, fakes, etc. The thread I'm referring to started when one guy challenged people with trouble to post service tickets etc to prove they were for real. Well, he got plenty of proof... The 6.0 is definitely having some teething problems.

Re:New Ford 6.0 sightings!

I never knew that they used International engines before. I thought that this new engine was picked by Ford from International, and the previous 7.3 was Fords own. Thanks for the info Luke.
BTW, the reason I don't care much for the International engines is because a friend of mine use to have one in his truck that transported horses. Everytime we had a horse show at the farm we would hear the really high pitch rev from the engine turning onto our street 1.5 miles away. I guess I just got a distaste for the sound and because of all the problems he had with it.

Re:New Ford 6.0 sightings!

Ya the previous "powerstroke diesel" was the IH 7.3, a.k.a. T444E. If you watch you'll see some smaller medium duty IH trucks that'll have that T444E badge on the side. Before the "powerstroke", there was a non-turbo 7.3, and before that there was the non-turbo 6.9, all made by IH.
