Smile New engine gaskets.

Hello,

I was wondering if any of you here, have had the chance to pull out a Cummins 12 valve, clean it up, and install all new gaskets?

I have a 1994 Cummins P-7100 engine, that I am removing out of a school bus, and it has 150K miles, with quite a few leaks. I am changing the accessories over to the Dodge automotive style, like the oil pan, pickup tube, fan, fan hub, intake horn, etc.....to install In my 1992 F-350 4x4 crew cab.

I was wondering, what would a shop charge to go through the engine and install all new gaskets? Any ideas on labor rates? I got a quote for $1300.00, and that seemed a bit high.

Any help would be awesome!

Thanks,
John

Are we talking every gasket in the engine ??? The labor rates in Pa range from around 25 to 150 an hr. I would not pay 1300 for a engine I have sitting on the ground. Get a service man and do the work yourself. If you run into problems or questions just ask.The guys on here are great with helping out.

I have thought of that, I have all of the manuals, but I would prefer a "real" diesel mechanic to put it together right the first time. I know some stuff, but I would fuss over the details for the next 6 months! I want a pro to get 'er done fast and right.

I am willing to pay a reasonable labor rate, please help me Colorado engine builders, I know your out there!
