New Drive Shafts

Hi Everyone,
I received new drive shafts for my truck delivered last week. I decided to replace both front and rear rather than order one and that wasn't the fix and have to order the other later.I had that same vibration at about 60 mph in the seat of the pants and did all the things suggested. rotate tires, rebalance and use beads instead of weights and nothing worked. The front drive shaft had play but the rear seemed tight.I know it might have been covered by warranty but I don't like to go to the dealers to have anything done.(just hard headed).
The reason for the post can anyone suggest a good mechanic in my area of Waldorf MD? I was going to do it myself it looked simple just some labor. But things have changed for me I had a heart attack on July 6 and I know it will be a long time before the shafts can be done by me so I thought someone has had mechanical work done and can recommend a good shop.

Thanks any advice will be appreciated

I’m not in your area but couldn’t help but say “Heart attack!” Gawd every time I come to DTR I find something else that can go wrong and to worry about. How many miles and had you been running it hard? Sorry, thought a little (very little) humor might help. I really hope you turn out alright and may the diesel god get you back on the road soon.

Hey crowbar.

I do not know of any mechanics in your area,. I hope someone here can steer you in the right direction, maybe someone/member can get them in for you to help you out. There are several guys right around you. If you were out my way I'd be there for you.

I wish you a speedy recovery and hopefully no more heart attacks. Time to think and get healthy bud.

Thanks CD

I made up my mind that I will get better----But it takes so long----- it sure has given my wife and myself a different outlook on life. Need to slow down and smell the roses.

Thanks

Do you think the vibration could've just been coming from a blown u-joint? You'll have to change those out with the driveshafts, so either way, it should be riding smooth when you get done! My u-joints were a pain to get out, but easy to put in with the help of a good table vise (press). I would take a look at a manual, there should be one online somewhere, and see if any special tools are needed.
