New to diesle perf, questions...

I'm looking at purchasing a 2007 ram 2500 with the 6.7 cummins engine.

I have read around on here some and see that people have issues with the filter system in the exhaust...

Is there any decent exhaust system that will go from the turbo back that will remove all that BS? My thoughts are to remove all the emmissions related stuff and just keep the factory exhaust so I can slap it back on when the testing gets done, this way it's gonna stay clean/functional for the testing, and normally I don't have to be bothered with it. Preferrably, something that's not gonna set the engine codes off, put it in some limp mode or any of that nonsense.

Also looking for a decent handheld programmer, and an airbox.

Please excuse me for not being up to speed with this stuff, had me head under the hood of the drag car for too long and haven't gotten up to speed on any of the diesel tech that's out there.

Thanks!

there only a couple kits out there to delete all that junk under there with out throwing codes. A buddy has the same truck and was going to do the same thing and when we talked to a few diesel performance shops they all said the same thing. If you remove it all be care they didnt recomend driveing long distance decause of the noise factor they said localy you'll be fine because the cops see the truck often and they see it as your a local. if you get bagged for say noise and they look at the truck and they notice all that stuff missing your looking at serious fines i have heard upwards of 5 grand. so the option is yours strait pipe it and be easy on the throttle or play it safe and strait pipe it after that stuff

I was thinking of leaving a muffler in the truck so the noise wouldn't be THAT bad... I'm sure that getting rid of the DPF and the cat will make the thing alot louder, but the muffler should take care of it yes?

I am more looking at trying to get rid of the stuff that causes the problems with the truck and up the mpg a little bit, the added power is just a bonus, honestly I have about a 5500 lb load I want to tow with it for now, and when I upgrade the race trailer to an enclosed one I'll be looking at close to 10,000 lbs, so at that point the power will be nice, but again, probably not needed, I'm a 65 mph guy when towing and no more.

I've read the DPF's like to get clogged, and I have read that the EGR seriously soot's up the intake tract, so if I can just ditch those it sould seem like that would take care of the issues.

Maybe leave the cat and straitpipe it after that and ditch the EGR?

Another thought, the EGR, has anyone tried just capping the intake off, and routing the EGR (where the discharge is that runs into the intake) so that it dumps back into the downpipe after the turbo? Might not look pretty, but it would probably not set any codes off, and eliminate alot of the soot issues with the intake and possibly the turbo yes?

Also, what kits do eliminate the problem stuff that don't throw the codes, a link to it would be great.
