new carrier bearing still has shudder
just got my truck back put a new carrier bearing in and a 1/4 inch shim to lower it to get the drive shaft straighter, the new bearing did help but it is still doing it. I know about one piece drive shaft but I called the guy and they don't make one yet for the nv5600. anybody got any ideas what else could it be . the u joints are tight there is a little bit of fluid coming from the t-case but its not from around the seal its like its coming out the end of the yoke internal I am fustrated I have a 5 hour away camp trip coming up leaving sunday and I Don't want problems thanks for any input
I bought the truck with 80,000 andnow it is at 120,000 and its never been like this

I just changed my driveshaft and put in a one piece aluminum shaft from Doghouse Diesel. I had a low speed shudder and a chirping noise that turned into a high pitch squel around 15 MPH. The rear u-joint (closest to the differential was siezing up to the point where I couldn't move it by hand after I removed the old driveshaft. I put in my new shaft and the truck is smooth as silk again, and the high pitch whine is totally gone. Their website states:
"1-Piece CUSTOM Aluminum Drive Shaft for 03+ Ram HD's
After many phone calls, emails and customer requests, we are finally able to provide a 1-piece aluminum drive shaft for ALL cab and drive configurations on the 3rd and 4th Gen Ram HD trucks, EXCEPT 2WD trucks with the 2-piece shaft.
These are completely assembled, high speed balanced and ready to install when they arrive.
These ARE NOT off the shelf OEM shafts. These are custom made for your truck and your measurements. Stock height, lifted, lowered, axle swaps, etc., are no longer out of the question. These can be made for you NV5600 QC/LB 4WD owners with the 2-piece shafts that are tired of replacing the problematic center carrier bearing on your OEM shaft. The other benefit is that the joints in these shafts are commonly available and much easier to replace than the weaker AAM joints."
Might be worth a call (706-888-2877) to see if they can help you. BTW, my '06 only had 46,000 on it, but the road salt used to melt snow had taken it's toll on the u-joints.
Good luck to you!
