Ok I will tell you guys how my day went. This morning I went in to have my cab lights looked at on my 04.5 because they where leaking water. Well I happen to wonder out in the sales department where I start talking to a sales guy about the new 05's. So we talk a little more and he asked me if I wasnt to test drive a 6spd since I have the 48re and always wanted a 6spd. So I go out and test drive them and found one I liked. So we talk a little and I end up driving out with a new 05 laramie 6spd loaded for a total amount of 6 grand different. But my payments are only an extra 9dollars a month becuase when I purchased my old truck I got killed with the 14.99% interest so I refinaced the new amount with what I owed on the new truck and got 4.9% So I was very pleased with that. So to get to the real question I plan on maybe doing some truck pulls with this truck and was wondering how much HP and torque the clutch can take without coming apart. It has the 11.5 rear with 3.73 anti spin. I plan on straight piping it this weekend. SO what is the best chip without killing the clutch?

People generally don't pull much with a stock clutch (or get very far).

Congrats on the new truck. I've considered cab lights on mine, but have read too many posts from people that say they leak. Don't need that. I suppose if I want cab lights, I can go the lighted visor route, but then again, they're still attached to the cab roof (possible leaks).

Congratulations-sounds like you really came out great on that deal. On the clutch thing-I've never pulled, but I've read various threads about tractor pulling, and clutches are one of the main topics, if not THE main one. The stock clutch is not a factor in ANY type of competitive pulling. The question is which aftermarket clutch you will get. Personally, I would not do this sort of thing with a new truck. At least let it get out of warranty before you start trying stuff like that. That's just my opinion, of course. It's your truck, so do as you please with it.

Faulty by design.

The reason teh cab light leak is they have one screw that goes through the amber lends, through the base, and right into the roof of the cab.

The whole reason I didnt get them.

Wouldn't a nice slim bead of silicone along the edge that touches the base solve this problem??

South bend makes nice clutches you will be happy with one of them. 100hp or so over stock and you will be able to spin your clutch. Your truck is brand new but if you plan to build hp you will need to replace clutch still they are alot cheaper than a built auto

A roof lamp similar to the ferd or chubby would be the answer.

The base screws to the roof via two screws. The base is sealed around the screw holes.

Then the lens clips at one edge and a screw that only goes into the base, not through to the roof. The screw hole for the lens is in a position where if it does leak, it doesnt leak through to the cab interior.

This is the best way to stop water.

DC should make corrective action with whatever engineer/supplier designed the dodge roof lamps.

When they do this I will add a set to my rig.

I haven't looked at my screws on the lights, but I felt them and it felt as thougn there were 2 screws holding it down?? I'm going to check it tomorrow.

Right on Bahaman.

There are two screws...One of them goes clear through to the cab from the outside.

I actually ordered a roof lamp add on accessory and after I looked over how it mounted I backed away like it was a poisonous snake.

Figured the leak is only a matter of time with that design.

But that was my opinion.

14.99 %.....are you nuts? Rates haven't been that high for .......I don't know how long. I would buy ANYTHING for that. Hate to see what your payment still are.

My interest rate was 14.99% because I was 18 years old and a first time buyer so I had no credit and could not get anybody to co-sign for me so I kinda had to bight the bullit. But now with the new truck I have 4.9% for the new truck and my payments are almost exactly the same. Kinda crazy isn't it I am glad with the new truck and I think I came off pretty good with this deal.

If your going to hook to a sled then your going to need a DD clutch. there is not way a Single disc clutch could put up with the high heat that is generated by the slipping of the clutch when sled pulling. I hooked 3 times in a 3 hour period and after my last pull you could feel the heat coming from under the truck. If you go the single disc route the best advise is to go in a low gear like 2nd low but nobody ever placed 1st pulling in 2nd low, infact its getting harder to even place in 3rd low thats why I will be going in higher gears this year.

Well I only plan on pulling one time. But when I pull I will probably have the edge ez on my truck. My buddies mostly drive Ford's so we all plan on going to one pull this year to see who does the best. Do you think I will be all right for just one pull in 3rd gear? Or with the edge box do you think I am going to tear up my clutch. I am assuming that you pull on the occasion so what is the best advice you can give me?
