My new Leer canopy has arrived from CA. Cap-it will be installing it next Tuesday. I asked , since they have a huge shop if I could come in and polish it before they install it on my truck, they said OK but don't know why I'd want to polish a new canopy.
It's the acid rain up here and I guess around most huge cities that eats away at the polish.
I ushually use Mothers Canuaba Wax. Just wondering if anyone else has a better proven idea on sealers and waxes. I had the truck Diamond shone, undercoaqted and rust proofed when I bought it last month. Thanks for any tips folks.

I think my last Leer cap came with recommendation to not wax for at least six months. But that was 10 years ago, so probably not relative to todays tops.

The Mothers is a good wax, I have used it before. I have been using Meguiars NXT for the last year or so. It seems to do as good and is easier to apply.

Leer recommends you not polish it for 6 months. That is usually the case with any fresh automotive paint.

I have been using the synthetic waxes like the NXT, or Eagle One waxes, lately on my truck/cap. They are easier to work, do not leave dust and white marks, and they get rid of those fine swirl marks very well. You also get a good water bead longer IMO.

I just waited 6 months and waxed my Leer Cap with Gold Class when I did the rest of the truck. Still looks new almost 3 years later.

Carnuba waxes will last about 3 months max with regular washing. They give a better shine, but that's it. If your looking for protection use a synthetic wax. Quality ones with give a good shine, but will last 6 months or more. They also will hold up to the elements better. I used carnuba just before winter and the salt ate it right off.

So what then would be a top line synthetic wax? Thanks for the tips guys and I see I will have to wait to polish it.

I'm personally going to Menzerna for my truck. It's German made.

I'd hate to say it but carnuba does not last 3 months. 8 weeks is max.

There is a lot fo good, quality stuff out there. Take a look at detailcity.com to find some stuff.

3 months for a quality wax under ideal (spring, summer) conditions. A month in winter, maybe.

For longevity and best protection a polmer resin would be the best.

Depends on the color of the truck as to which one I would use.
