Need some help with wipers

Yesterday I started up my pickup in the cold (20 degrees), and after trying the windshield wipers they quit after three swipes. I made sure that they weren't frozen-stuck and scraped off "most" of the snow on the windsheild, but as i said they quit. After using the search function last night I tried setting the wipers on high speed and they worked, but they were way slower than they should've been.

Is there a common way to fix the wipers? or will I have to take it to a dealer

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

If it is only happening every now and then, it could be the multifunction switch. Mine is acting up, and it affects wipers and blinkers every now and then. I guess though it would probably be the switch regardless if constant or not. 40-50 bucks online and easy fix.
