Exclamation Need some help, guys!

Guys, I had to evacuate from Hurricane Ike, got about half way to my sons house, and the truck acted up, surging, and no power-------- made it to his house, it would pick up power then go back to lack of power,,,

Anyway, I'm a ways from the house and I need to see if I can get the truck back to the house, hopefully, it's a mess here in Houston,

I pulled the codes and got P 1693 and P 0216, I know the last one is probably the IP, but the first one represents what???

I have limited access to the computer, so if you can help me out, I'll check back later,---- I think maybe the APPS needs cleaning,--- what do ya'll think? If so, where is it, I know it's been posted but I don't have time to look.

Right now when I start the truck, it'll will lope bad up and down, then smooths out then lopes again with unburnt diesel, bad smell,-------again what do you think this could be.

Thanks for the help.
Paul

DTC P1693 is fault code in compainion module and think you know 216 is death code for VP44. You need a pump and a lift pump. The LP possiblly caused VP44 failure. You can test lift pump if like, but if haven't replaced in last 6 months it's history. No cleaning of apps, IAT, ground wires or air filter replace will heal. Sorry.

Yeah sounds like your vp44 went south on you! Better get the truck off the road before it leaves you stranded!

Thanks for the responses guys, gotta go to work now on the truck.

I'm thinking about pushing the warranty thing on the VP, it's a 01 and I only have 90,000 miles on the truck========

Three key cycles on failry quickly and leave on. Codes will show in odometer section and then 'done". Believe 2000 was first year for feature. Older need a reader. Can sometimes find for 40 bucks or so. Performance chips frequentlly have the feature also.
