Need some help - chirping and rocks in the belt / pulley assembly
I've got a brief chirp coming from my pulleys / belt assembly on my '05. It's got 137,000 miles, and has been well maintained so far. I did the water pump at around 100k, I think (records are not with me tonight).
I've been looking at the pulleys while it's running and can't seem to pinpoint it. There's a slight rocks in a bucket sound, but it's pretty subtle. The chirping/squeal is getting more common - it lasts for a couple of seconds at a time.
Here's what I can see from the visual inspection - the water pump pulley is not running smooth. It's kind of wobbling. The tensioner is, of course, bouncing regularly because it's right under the water pump. The power steering pump also looks like it's got a little wobble to it, but it's very very slight.
I know the squealing / chirping is supposed to most commonly be the tensioner pulley or the idler pulley, but those pulleys look fine.
I'd rather not start throwing parts at it.
What say the experts, who have seen similar problems on their trucks?
