Need a new engine on warranty and no receits. I'm I screwed?
I've been having engine problems for a year, blowing oil out the crankcase blow tube. Truckk finally quit, I take it in, they say it needs a new engine(at 82000 miles), and I need service records. I did all servicing on my own, and now i can't find my receits.
Did I just majorly EDIT myself?
Anything I can do?
Truck is a 05 dodge diesel.
please do not use symbols in the place of profanity.

I'd pull an oil sample and send it in for analysis. If the oil is good then it's good! Even if it is original oil, if it is doing its job what can they say?
Then call another dealer and see what they say, then call your attorney.
I don't keep receipts, but I sure could come up with some hand written ones in a hurry from my old uncle Bob.... Prove he didn't sell me oil and filters every 3 months.....

Sounds like a cracked injector. Are you sure there is major engine damage?
I cracked an injector......and changed my oil several times...to get home. Changed out the injectors....changed the oil....and all is well. I just got the results of my latest oil sample and the engine is great.
Im not saying that is all that is wrong with yours.....but I'd check further before assuming the engine is toast.

I've had a full set of injectors replaced at 70000 miles and 80000 miles. Did not solve the problem of loosing a quart of oil out the crankcase blow tube since 65000 miles. First dealer I took it too told me to drive it untitl it break, as everything was inspecifications. (BS). Ran until the truck wouldn't run, and now they want receicts. I should have known better, my bad, but they never asked for any reciets when they replaced 2 injectors at 35000, all at 70000, and again at 80000. Truck has 82000 miles on it now.
I've had it in 3 or 4 times for the same problem and was never fixed. Twice they replace injectors, twice said it was fine, all the time I knew that it wasn't.
Good call on testing the oil, I will be sending a sample in ASAP. Guess I'll have to drop the plug to test that ehh?
I've been reading up on the Manasum Moss act.
Talked to the parts place, and they said to give them the dates I serviced and they will pull them up, so I should be good. I just have a feeling I'm going to have a difficulty with this.
Thanks for the input.

I think that you need to find a different dealer, and maybe a lawyer. Make them prove that it was not your fault. I'm not a lawyer or warranty guru, but I'm pretty sure that it does not say in the warranty clause that you have to provide receipts for warranty work.
A Cummins long block is somewhere in the neighborhood of 12k... I'd fight the crap out of that. Do some research, call Dodge corporate, see what you can do. Don't get beaten out of money you don't have to pay.

Long blocks cost that much???? I found 9 complete engines for a 97 Dodge and put that info on the board saying I could get one for $4,000 and I was scoffed at.... I mean COMPLETE engines, new in crates, injectors and all..... Maybe you could use some parts if they don't fix yours free????

I've done my own maintenance since my truck was new. I've kept a detailed log book AND with every oil change sent in a sample for testing. The testing is better than a receipt that proves I purchased something. they could still easily argue that even though you purchased filters and oil, when did you actually change the oil?? Loose, loose situation unless you have something independent in your records. The warranty document you signed DOES clearly state the conditions surrounding warranty claims. While they might not seek receipts, etc when you drive into them, they WILL seek receipts when you are towed in and need something truly expensive like a new engine.

SOunds like you have a history to support the failure just with the injector warranties. Dealer is trying to screw you. Before lawyering up, ask on here to find an honest dealer in your area (there maight be one left).
Otherwise put the hammer down on them with a lawyer I guess.
I don't keep recepits, keep a maint log though..guess I'm screwed.
