Need Lift Pump suggestions please

I just replaced my IP and also added a low pressure warning light.
I guess my second Auto Zone stock style lift pump went out and it cost me an IP. I havent really driven the truck yet because it will idle just fine but as soon as I give it some throttle down the drive way the low pressure warning LED will light up and I kill it right then. What can I do? I do not want to ruin my new IP, are there any affordable alternative lift pumps? Thanks

When you had the VP replaced, did you replace the lp? I suggest a mechanical fuel guage and get a fuel psi reading. The light only tells you it's low but you know know how low. Vulcan performance sell one or you can try local napa auto.

I replaced the VP myself, I didnt replace the lift pump because I just put one on last year. I guess I just got a bad one. The BD light I installed comes on if the fuel pressure drops below 5 psi, thats too low for me, I want to get a pump that may be a little overkill but will save my wallet in the long run.

FASS 95/150, Walbro 392 seem popular, but your best bang for the buck is getting a real FP gauge AND a lp solution. A warning light (although better then not) is already too late at 5psi. Walbros (complete kit) are had online for around $420, Fass going from memory start at $500 and up.

Good luck

When I replaced mine, the one lp didn't do any better. 2psi higher. Pretty disappointed. You ever thought about going w/ a big line kit and relocate the lp. That's what I did and it helped a lot. 12psi on b100, 13psi on #2 at idle. I can't bring it down pass 9psi at wot.

This is what I want to do, get a good pump and keep the stock filter housing/water seperator. You got any pics of your setup?

Thanks.

Where can I get the Walbro 392? Will I be able to keep using the stock filter housing?

i got a walbro 392 set up and it is way over kill but well worth the money. the pump only runs at 12% load. I got my lines and fitting from wideopendiesel.com along with a big line kit for the VP. It set me back about 210 bucks and then bought a walbro pump from ebay brand new for 100 bucks. Glascier diesel sells a kit for areound 400 , and you can use your stock filter set up just fine. The major switch over is the 1/2 inch feul lines along with doing away with the banjo bolts. got any questions just ask.

and Yes it reuses the stock filter. You run new 3/8" hose and loose the restrictive banjo at the filter.

Love mine never below 14psi at WOT 16-17 idle pressure. Agreed it's a way overkill option but piece of mind is worth every penny I spent.

For the money, you can not beat the Cummins campaig pump. It was $65. Some say it is $100 now. Still you can buy 4 or 6 of these for one of the other. Plus it is exact replacement, but suppose to run better.I have one, as do many on this site. They do not seem to fail nearly as much.
I also recommend the Vulcan big line kit.

I ordered a Fass 95 GPH from Eric at Vulcan, he was very helpful and didnt mind taking the time to explain things to me.
