Need info on a "flash" please

A friend of mine, with the exact same truck as I have, had a flash done on his truck against his wishes. He had no issues with the truck at all but they flashed it anyway. Now he says that there is less power (noticably) and horrible fuel mileage (he gets less than 380 miles to a tank). This is what the sticker under the hood says:

PCM (ECM) FLASH
453257553AC
RRT Send Action
#06-053-42294

I have looked everywhere and cant find any info on this. Anybody have any help for him. Before anybody says to ask the dealer, we already have...they seem to know less about these trucks than my dog. Any help is appreciated.

It was a flash. Not due to a TSB, but what is reffered to as a Rapid Response Transmittal. Here's the low down on it.

October 26, 2006
TO: ALL DODGE DEALERS
FROM: GLOBAL SERVICE
SUBJECT: RAPID RESPONSE TRANSMITTAL SERVICE ACTION #06-053
Flash: DTC P0191 - Fuel Pressure Sensor Rationality
INVOLVED VEHICLES: 2007 DH/D1 Ram Truck (2500 / 3500)
NOTE: The VIN List is available on DealerCONNECT for all affected dealers. The
VIN List has been inserted in the Service Tab under Rapid Response
Transmittals. The dealers receiving the Rapid Response Transmittal Service
Action are the “Ship To” dealers and the VIN’s listed are specific to their
dealership.
NOTE: This information applies to models equipped with a 5.9L turbo-diesel
engine (Sales Code ETH).
DISCUSSION:
A number of vehicles have been shipped that may exhibit a MIL illumination due to DTC
P0191 – Fuel Pressure Sensor Rationality.
This Service Action involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain
Control Module (PCM) with new software.
NOTE: The Repair Procedure (PCM flash) currently can not be performed using
the StarMOBILE in its STANDALONE mode. Use the StarSCAN® to perform the
Repair Procedure, or use the StarMOBILE in its CONNECTED mode to perform
the Repair Procedure.

I appreciate the great information, but exactly what does it mean...and why wasnt my truck flashed(our trucks are one number off on the VINs). Could this be the cause for the low power and terrible fuel mileage? cause my truck pulls like a freight train.

They did the flash while he had it in for an oil change.

PM me your vin and I'll see. A RRT has to be done ASAP and usually because serious damage or safety concerns could happen. From what I can tell according to the "buletin" it shouldn't have affected power or mileage. It looks like all it did was change what the ECM was looking for from the rail pressure sensor.
