Need help with timing
I will be having to valves adjusted and want to have the timing advanceed while it is in the shop. How ever I'm a little confused on what the timing is changed on. I have done searchs on hear and have found threads refurring to the pump timing and then I have seen picuters with the front cover of the motor off and the instructions are about timing.
So my question is what gets timed the engine or the fuel pump?
I want to make sure I know what I'm talking about when I take my truck in.

Chapter President
The fuel pump is mechanical and timed by physically removing the drive gear and positioning the fuel pump and engine to the desired timing offset.
Ppump timing procedure
Now setting your timing would be more a function of your pump model and desired timing advance.
