i need help with parts
yesterday is the first day that i have had any problems with my 2000,2500fwd. after reading some topics on the web etc. i have isolated the problem to the all mighty lift pump. now the questin is where do i find parts other than the dealer. my truck has around 83k on it, so from what i have read im not doing to bad. also i am looking for info. on how to identify a pump that was included in the recall. i took my truck back to the dealer after recieving the recall and they said it did not apply. after talking to dodge yesterday they said that the dealer had all ready replaced my pump, but i was only there for 15min and dont belive that they ever did anything but feed me bs and send me on my way.

Re:i need help with parts
I got my lift pump replacement directly from Cummins, about half the price of the Dodge part, and supposedly more reliable.
(My truck was still under warranty, but I decided that I rather do it myself with the Cummins pump than have the dealer have the truck for a whole day, and make the two 60 mile round trips to get the truck there and to pick it up.) You can get the part number in the "tech facts" section. I had the pump almost 20k miles and I get 16 psi at idle, 13-14 psi at 60 mph, and 10 psi at WOT.

I did the samething DPG did. Now I have a functional spare in the toolbox.
Sometimes you can join a club with Cummins that gives you a 10% break on parts & labor.

Re:i need help with parts
I just ordered two pumps from Cummins here in Richmond, $148 a piece. Put on number four today, I've got it down to about 35 minutes and that includes removing the filter housing. Dodge wanted $369 for the same pump. What's up with that? Put the new spare in the tool box.
This tool below is a must for these trucks.

Maybe I didnt understand you right but it doesnt matter if they already put a new one on your truck. They have to put as many as it takes to get it right untill 100,000 miles. The only reason I bought my own was because at the time DC was making the dealer check the LP pressures then call for an approval, then DC would send the dealer one for your truck. I dint want to wait that long so I bought one from Cummins and installed myself. Glad I did, too. Made improvement while I was at it.
