Need HELP on 6.7 c/c truck! DOWN AGAIN!

I have a 2007 Dodge 3500 c/c truck with the 6.7 engine, aisian 6 speed auto, 4.10 gears just hit 30-k miles. We use the truck a couple of times a week to haul horses or hay with. Agv. 15-k lbs!

Last Nov. truck set for a week (25-k miles), went to start and turned over 7 or 8 times to start. CEL was on right away. The Monday after it was at the dealership, Tuesday they called said no CEL, no codes, no probelms. I had them keep the truck until Weds. just to make sure. Weds, truck was dead, dealer installed new batteries rechecked for codes and found something in the trans., valve body and something else. Was fixed (so they say) used it the following week and trans was shifting HARD loaded, called dealer and let them know, 2 days later trans was shifting smooth again but shifting too fast. Going into high gear loaded at 40 to 45mph, fuel mileage went from 12 loaded to 10 and 15 unloaded to 12 unloaded. And lack of power. Truck was taking back to dealer and dreove loaded with service manager he said there was a problem with the shifting but still no codes, after 3 days they said there was a turbo boost code, cleaned egr crap, cleaned carbon off of turbo. Truck had a little more power but still not shifting right. Found another dealer, they found that the first dealer did not update the program when they installed the valve body. This was done, MORE power back (not what it was before Nov.) shifting great loaded and unloaded, mileage unloaded back to just over 15 and over 12 loaded, 2 days later, mileage hit the fan, 8.8 to 9 loaded and 11 unloaded, lack of power, trans shifting into high gear at 45mph.

As of today3/8/09 CEL is back on, lack of power, does not seem to have any boost at all and a solid 9 MPG!

Any body have an idea that I can take to the dealer with me???

Any one I could contact about "lemon law buy back"? Dodge dealer tells me there is no such thing!

They should know what to do, it's not like your the only one with the problems and there SHOULD be common knowledge at the dealer as to what the problem is. But, some dealers are tired of working on them and play stupid when one comes in.

Dodge has some updated parts that are supposed to "cure" a lot of those problems but my dealer tells me they have to fail first before they can put them on. Parts include a new turbo (rather than drilling and cleaning yours) and new emissions stuff. Sounds to me like your turbo could be the issue here.

Rather than arguing with the dealer, I find it easier to find one willing to work with you, it makes life easier.

Found a dealer that got it right in and checked first thing today. I took it in at 8:30 and he called by 1:00 and said it was ready.

Problem found: soot build up in egr! They wanted to know if I use the engine brake or not, YES all the time!

Problem I am having with this is, it was in another dealership 2 weeks and 500 miles ago with the same problem and was told by them that they cleaned the egr and everything having to do with the egr system.

So I guess every 2 weeks and 500 miles I need to take it in and have it serviced? Sounds like a load of grap to me.

Hmmm, sounds like your EGR valve is getting stuck open or closed. Have them check the valve. Also any way it could be bad fuel (these trucks really REALLY hate that)? And do you add anything to the fuel when you fill up? If you do stop, that has been causing problems as well. How long have you been running the truck (day by day) and at what RPMs? Idle it much? Hope this helps.

I was told they "cleaned" the egr mess. They did a fuel check and it was fine, filter changed every oil change, never use anything in the fuel on this truck (just the older ones), We use the truck all weekend and 1 or 2 times during the week pulling a horse trailer and 70% is hwy speeds, hardly ever idles other than opening the gate or sitting at red lights.

What I am not happy about, I ask the dealer if I will have to bring it back in every 500 miles or every couple of weeks to get this thing worked on and he told me yeah I might have to that he was not sure it was fixed or not. This makes me really like the truck even more

nostroker, just a notion, but are you sure you are getting ULSD?

Even LSD will stuff things up pretty quickly with the newe Emissions stuff.

Yes, ULSD or at least that is what is shown. I know whatever it is it makes my older trucks run bad unless I put something in with it. I try and fill up at large stations on a main hwy just to try and get fresh fuel.
