What are you guys running for pads and rotors up front. I have an '01 and can feel the brakes are just about shot. The rotors are warped so I was going to install new rotors and pads....possibly reman'd calipers? Any recommendations.

I have read drum brakes and was going to try to upgrade to the Chevy 1ton cylinders as well.

Which Hawk pads work best with the Brembo rotors? I have seen LTS, HPS, and Severe Duty? I am guessing the HPS because I was always told to get the least expensive/standard grade pads so the pads wear out and not the rotors.

How do the Mopar Value-line pads compare to the Hawks? I can get the Mopars for around $65/set at my local dealer.

well if your trying to save $ I don't think the mopar pads are to bad if there the same ones the truck came off the line with I have 120k on my 01 and they still look good

I use the HPS but some folks swear by the Severe Duty.
Your choice I guess, won't go wrong either way.
Just the plain Brembos work great, no need for slotted, etc.

Do you know what part# the Brembo rotors are? I have searched the internet and most sites call for p/n W0133-1602475. I also found a site that calls for p/n 27126? Any idea which part should be used on the front of an '01?

Could be the parts number confusion is 2wd vs 4wd

nope, that 27126 part number is for the brembo slotted rotors....i dont know the part number for the regular OE replacement rotors

Are you running stock wheels? If not and your wheels are 17s or bigger, I would put the 04-07 front brakes and rotors on, over 30% more stopping power and very inexpensive

Do NOT get the most inexpensive pads out there, to save on rotor wear, what ends up happening is you end up with poor stopping ability and changing pads too often, I've gotten the most aggressive/expensive pads I can get my hands on and they do not wear out rotors...dont comprimise on a hi-end pad, I've eaten thru 1/2 dozen or better sets of pads on the same rotor, the rotors were not wore out but would have required re-surfacing. these trucks have marginal braking at best when empty, could save your life in a panic stop if you dont try to save a couple dollars worrying about rotor wear.

The OEM pad is not good, the hawks are better, I posted my findings in another thread, so I'll post the link at the end of this post for your viewing pleasure.

Running BRembo rotors from buybrakes.com. Best price I could find when I needed them.
Pads are Bendix, lifetime fleet rated or similar. Same pad packed different for 3 different markets.
They last and stop as good as the Severe service pads I used to run, and run about $70 from my local parts shop
