Need advice from some 6.7 owners please.

Hey guys, I am thinking of buying a new left over 08 6.7 4x4 automatic megacab. I would like to get some overall opinions from some 6.7 owners. i would like to know about your experiences with reliability, power, mpg, response to mods and any other grips or complaints. Thanks in advance.

Andy

The poor headlights are the only thing I don't like.

Only Complaint

MPG. IT IS STILL NEW , AND AN AUTO, BUT I ONLY GET 12-14.MY 2000 GOT CLOSE TO 20 ONTHE HIGHWAY, BUT IT WAS STANDARD. I DONT THINK THIS WOULD MAKE MUCH DIFFERNCE AT CONSTANT CRUISE SPEED WITH NO LOAD. MY 2 CENTS.

Mileage is a problem, well more when its in Regen. On the highway in-between Regens I have calculated about 17 mpg. Not bad. But on a full tank it will regen at least once and drop the calc to 12.. Boy that has to change soon..

I just did about a 300 mile round trip. Not loaded on mostly flat but some hills and a couple 6% grades. Set the cruise at 75 and forgot about it. Got 19.4 MPG hand calculated. Truck just turned 4,000 miles. Mileage is supposed to improve over the first 10K. In comparison, my lifted 06 HEMI 4x4 got, at best,14-15 MPG on the freeway at the same speeds

That's what I ended up doing. I now have about 5300kms on my '08 Megacab and love it. The new auto is way better for hauling than the 48re. Milage around town sucks, but it's not too bad on the highway. You won't be disappointed!

Have I told you guys that I average nearly 20 mpg (mixed driving) in my '05 1 ton 4WD quad cab dually (5.9 six speed manual)?

OK, I have nothing substantive to add to this conversation, but I couldn't resist.

My 6.7 is the best truck I have ever owned/driven. I agree the headlamps suck (bearderone), but it whoops all over my brothers 6.0 Ferd. Highway I get 18 all day long (empty), last week towed a 3/4 ton chevy 300 miles, set cruise at 65 mph got almost 16 mpg all the way home, and was passn like there was nothing behind me. Check engine light on and off a few times (have to get update) and one recall, have some wind noise by drivers door, but great truck. My uncle has a 08 Ferd 6.4 and gets 12 mpg and paid 17k more..Buy it and drive it.

I purchased my 08 last thanksgiving and now have almost 6000 mi on it. I bought it because it was 17K off and red! At first I wasn't sure I had done the right thing due to MPG and the pollution mods. The mpg has gotten a lot better and boy does it move. Pulls the 5th wheel great and very hard to keep it under 75 on freeway when not pulling. I really like my 02 Dodge but this 08 is a better rig all around. Very glad I bought it. The only thing I have added to it is a scangauge.

I have 73000.0 on my 08, head lights suck, wind noise in drivers door will drive you nuts and that death wobble will make grip the steering wheel hard. Other than that a new EGR vavle and 12 mpg or less this truck kicks butt. First dodge for me and now I'am waiting for the 2010 dodge 3500 crew cab. If it wasn't for that 6.7 with 6 speed auto, I would of get rid of it, I need more cab room, mega cab would be great but only comes with short bed. I run 315/70/17 and after a regen and some off road fuel the truck will lite up the rear tires from a dead stop.

Truely love this truck. Cant speak for mega cab but As far as mods, I had cold air intake on but took it off and put stock box back on because of the excessive turbo whine. On long trips it has made my ears ring while driving.

I have 25,000 on an 08 1 ton. It pulls great, more than enough power and acceleration. The high beams are a little dim, and the mileage computor sucks. Other than that the truck is great. I had a 94, 02 and this one. This is the best yet.
