Need Advice Please Read.
I currently have a 2004 2500 4X4 on order but do to the protection package restriction only god knows when it wil be built. Since I do not want an EGR engine I went to the dealer today to delete the protection package. While there I started looking at a 2003 truck on the lot. Please look at the difference's and tell me which truck you would get.
Ordered truck is a '04 2500 4X4, SLT, short bed, HO/48RE, Flame Red/Silver.
The '03 on the lot is a 3500 srw 4X4, SLT, long bed, HO/48RE, Flame Red.
The 2003 has these following options that my ordered 2004 does not.
3500 srw
Leather
Sport Package
6 disc cd with Infinity
alloy wheels
electronic t-case
The 2003 would cost me $600 dollars more than the 2004 but as you can see it has a lot more $$$$ in options. What do you think I should do?

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

Hard choice. Which one would be worth more in a trade-in in say, one year and 5 years?

Big thing to me is the long bed vs short bed. If you garage your truck is your garage big enuff? After driving a short bed now (storage space and box length for material sucks) I would not want my old long bed school bus back. If you don't care about the bed length and the goofy lites on the roof then I would get the '03. You can tell eveyone it is an '04 tho.... ;D

Thanks for your replys. After a rather sleepless night going over this in my head I have chosen to stick with the ordered '04. The 2003 is a nice truck but I don't really like the longbed and since it's a sport and a longbed it has way too much red for my liking. Also, I saw a truck on the lot that colorwise is identical to my order and it looked awesome to bad it's a Hemi.
With that decision finalized I went down to the dealer to delete the protection group so my truck would not be held up. As it turns out DC deleted it for me and the truck is in D-status. The dealer showed me his original order form and it listed the protection group but today it was not there. Also the price of the truck has increased by a hundred and change so the dealer is now $4 in the hole .
I called DC to confirm the D-status and it is correct. The women on the phone said she figures sometime in October for a build date.
I hope October will be a EGR'less month.

holy cow! D status today but not built until October? hopefully early October.. I've got my odds on EGR-less October too. When you get D1 and a VIN, then ask what engine they are building into your truck.

Considering this thread was started on September 9th, and on September 10th he stated he was sticking with his order....I think you guys are a little late.
