Need advice on box, about to buy

Hello all,
I really enjoy reading all of the great info on this forum, and I have searched alot on this subject. But... I am about to pull the trigger on a box for my 03 HO 48re stock truck. I tow a 6500lb travel trailer thru mountains wva turnpike, Tenn etc. I dont want to have to upgrade my tranny so. I am thinking either Edge Ez on Van aaken pressure box 3.1 I like the in cab adjustability. Would on of theese two be best or should I wait for the juice I like the tranny saving features it offers. Oh and I will be installing guages.
Thanks for any insight you can provide.

If you'r goin over them mountains in wva ya better get gauges and install them right , pre turbo . I just put my Edge Ez in last night and was happy with the results so far, seat of the pants is fun, this could get addicting real quick, I swore I wouldn't touch the trans but man if this is what an ez box does whats it feel like with a big time box and torque converter- valvebody? ..... hmmmmm wonder how much I am gettin back on taxes......

Personally,
I would go with the Van Aaken C3.2 duration box. Doesn't tax the injection system like pressure boxes. Also in cab adjustable just like the C3.1 pressure box.
Just cost more.

Go with the ez but make sure you install guages especially if your towing Di procols make an excellent match with you factory guages and propods a pillar mount are a perfect match for your interior no painting necessary

Jim,

I'm in Chillicothe as well. I'll let you try my EZ if you'd like before you make a purchase.

I'd go with the TST,set on lower settings. It has gauges built in and EGT limiter, way better TQ at the lower rpm's than the pressure boxes. We have seen some injectors out of trucks with pressure boxes and there is more wear and tear on them than you can imagiane! I'm not trying to push TST over any other box for any certain reason, only because it works so good.

I've tried the C3.2, C3.1, EZ, and the TST. For towing and mild bombing I would go with the C3.1 as a first choice followed by the EZ. I prefer the C3.1 for a few reasons. Due to how VA's mapping is done it doesn't ramp up pressure all the time like the EZ does. Top end is softer but has lower EGT's and the bottom end is stronger. You also have the in cab control which allows you to easily change the pressure to suit your towing needs and applications. You can also turn it off when the truck is cold and save the extra strain on the high pressure fuel system. As you can see from my signature it stacks well also.

The C3.2 is too hot to really be useable for anything other than playing and even playing it get super hot. I've tried towing with it and it was worthless.

If you have self control the TST with the new program is an excellent towing box but you have to be able to stay away from the higher settings. Period.

Just humble observations from someone who has actually run all four boxes...

I love my tst box. But it is real hard leave the settings down,,,I usually run it on 5x5 to daily drive..3x3 to tow the horses and 7x7 to play ,,,I just put down 415hp and 735tq on the dyno on 7x7 also..

I liked getting the gauges all in one package, also the monitor is small and i just velcrod it to the dash, easy to install

Hi Guys, New to forum and like the site a lot. Just thought I'd tell you my experience with EZ. I put it on last Nov. and pulled my 12,500 5er around 1500 miles. Developed a fuel leak on the engine so I took it to the dealer and the high press. relief valve was leaking. It is being replaced now. I didn't get any codes but assume the EZ on 3 caused the problem. I liked the extra power on the hills but will have to change modules or change the jumper to position 2 on the box. Sounds like the TST might work better or maybe I had a defective high press. valve? Thanks --jag
