Need advice.....33's....35's + 6spd

Hey everybody......got a question about gearing. I'm looking to put some new tires on the truck and I'm wondering what will be too much for my 3.73 gearing? Truck currently has 245/70 bfg ruggedtrail....yes...245! Anyways, looking to put a 305/70-17 terragrap or 295/70 trailgrap on it - (35's I think might be over the line for durability/reasonable mileage) Will 6 spd handle new tire height ok? I'm looking to stretch my shift points as much as I can without killing power. Truck isn't worked anymore (towing) so it's my daily ride - tired of rowing through 5 gears in 300 ft!...lol Any thoughts?? thank you.

Take it for what it's worth but my 35/12.50/17 sucked the life out of my 2003 with 3.73 and an nv5600. However with 305/55/20 and 285/70/17 that I had on it the truck ran pretty good and got great mileage. 35's and 3.73 are a bit much even with the mighty nv5600. I have 295/70/17 on my 2007 with 3.73 and it's a pretty good compromise between performance and mileage.

thanks silverram, I appreciate the feedback - tires aint cheap, so definitely going to see what people here have to say before making my decision. Hopefully more 6 spd owners will chime in.

Just went from 325/60/18 Toyo AT's, to 35/12.50/18 Toyo MT's, now I wish I would have went 33/12.50/18 MT's.

The 35's look nice, but I do not believe the amount of power that I have sacrificed is worth it. I have not dynoed with the new tires yet, but I know it's gonna hurt.

Get a set of 285-75-17 or 305-70-17s and you would be happy

I have a set of 35" tires with my 6sp manual. I havent noticed any power loss but I have had them on for a long time. Only problem I have is now that I am towing a camper and boat a lot there seems to be a lot of sidewall flex with the taller tires. Also getting 35" tires to wear evenly seems to be a real problem, have a lot of cupping starting. I love the way the 35's fill the fender well but will probably step down to a 305 for better towing. Also with 35's and a front end leveling kit I still get an occasional tire rub.

I ran 285/70's for a while, and now run 255/80/17's... I like the shift points with the 255's a lot better..
