the little plugs on the getrag top cover; there are 6, one at each end of the shift rails.



are these a readily available item; like from a hardware store/good auto parts store? or more of a transmissions parts place kinda item?

How do you take them out? Are they reusuable?

whats behind them? springs and *****?

I see what you're talking about in the pictures of the 1993 FSM.

- I'm gonna guess they're pressed-in plugs for the holes drilled in the case to install/mount the shift rails.

They are not readily available. I screwed one up while replacing a shifting fork. The guy where I bought the shifting forks sent me a used one. I got the others out by drythreading a 3/8ths or 7/16ths bolt into the outside walls of it and pulling it out that way. If you have a dent puller (slide hammer) and can put a bolt on the end of it that will thread into the little "freeze plug" or "expansion plug" outside walls, that would work, too. Try not to puncture the plug with whatever you try and screw into it. They come out fairly easily. Good luck.
