Tony it's better now. Still cold and windy and tomorrow it's supposed to rain. I'm hoping to head up to abbot and get my front end replacement after I install my new turbo.
Mike, this turbo is pretty big. Definately bigger than my ksb-1.
... this turbo is pretty big. Definately bigger than my ksb-1.
Need side by side Pics! I'm sure there coming.
62/70....????????? What's the 70?
Looks like the standard S300 Compressor Volute... and all B-1's have a 62mm compressor wheel... but the PS is a lot newer wheel design/metalurgy so...??
Twin bypass ports, right?
Tyler, if you get a chance, please compare measurements on the two turbine volutes? Always wondered if the KSB-1 was roughly equal to a 12cm2 or not.

Don't worry. Pics are coming. I'm also getting my front bumper today as well. :D
Hey rowland, how did you rig the external wastegate up to not blow boost off when you put your hx 55 on? Don't know what the 70 means. Guess it's just industrial's way of numbering stuff. You should see the wastegate ports on this sucker. They are MASSIVE!! They really hogged this thing out. I'll get pics of the wastegate.

Hey Blue bumper looks good... Very familiar looking [laugh] Looks like a truck now!! [laugh] Did it squat the front of the truck some?? I never saw my truck without so?? I know another half chord of wood I have in the back will squat it a bit...
BigBlue
01-20-2007, 10:04 PM
Nope. Didn't budge the front end an inch. When we took it off the other guy's truck it lifted his a good inch or so but mine never even flinched. Ya know, even with no front sway bar the front end still feels great. No extra sway or nothing. I'm very happy with it. Now it just needs to quit raining for a weekend so I can strip it down and paint it.

Nice bumper Tyler! Makes it look more like a REAL truck now! :)
In those turbo pics, is there something wrong with one of the fins on the older turbo? Looks like it is smashed flat or something on the right hand side about 2 to 3 o'clock in the pic.

You didnt tighten up the idle noise bolt far enough??? [duhhh] [laugh]
I couldnt tell you on that one....only that the larger inducer on the turbo might be letting the engine growl sound from the intake be more pronounced?

Anyone who plans to dyno needs to PM rjohnson! This started out as a fairly small event and has grown. Start time, etc may have to be changed to accommodate more people.
Yup!
We have time and room for maybe 10 trucks. Need to know who is definately coming. It's being done on private land and kind of as a favor. Sorry, just not a "come one...come all" kind of a day, this time around.
Edit-10:15: Been asked to limit it to 10 trucks...since were not starting till 1:00. Can't move that up... so were full. List above has been updated and all confirmed, unless Justin has to work!

Hey im just throwing CB out as a suggestion. If there is any other place yall wanna go eat then speak up. I think the options may be a little bit limited in that part of N. Texas.
Rowland did you receive the email? I think Charlie is discouraging us staying at Sedalia this go around with the temps and rain. Friday's high is currently forecasted around 39 and dropping from there down into the low 20s. Saturday won't be much warmer. Tyler is probably staying at my house and I have plenty of room for you if you want to come down. Charlie suggested a "slumber party" :) at my place.

I hate to discourage going to The Ranch, but the current forecast is 45/35 for Friday, 38/27 for Saturday and 40/25 for Sunday, and that's for Dallas. It's nearly always 2/3* colder in Sadelia and you know how the wind blows up there. And, that's not even taking into account for the MUD. :( Be patient...as soon as I win the lottery, we'll have a nice BIG, well equipped, heated and air conditioned shop up there.
Thanks to Robert and Mike for their hospitality and offers for warm beds.
I guess we now need to decide who, what, where and when to meet up. The Cracker Barrel at 380 and 35 is probably as central as any place and is easy to find. What say 11:00 and that would give us time to eat and be in Era by 1:00.
Robert, Just got the e-mail copy from Charlie. With your working late and my back problem...I'll come to McKinney early Saturday. I'll hit McDonalds and bring coffee for all....say 8:30? Too early?

I'll pass on staying overnight in McKinney. I took a BIG fall on a patch of ice 15 days ago. Landed on concrete .... on my back and right side. I'm just back to about 90% mobility, so I need my heated waterbed at night. :)

Well,
Can't make the dyno thingy (need a new clutch before that happens anyway) due the fact that I am going ATV'ing on Saturday. I should be back around 5-6. I will try to swing by Robert's for a while Saturday :)
I will bring the usual for my beverage, if someone could just have a glass with some ice waiting for me, it would be appreciated. Speaking of "the usual", my buddy got me hooked on a Jack Daniels product (and I don't like Jack Daniels), it is Jack Daniel's Single Barrel. I have to confess that I may give up my Crown for that.

Just a guess...but based on bombs, I think you'll be same as me when you add H2O/Meth.
Positives - S400 primary turbo vs my S300..... and 5" stacks vs my 4" (maybe)
Negatives - your HX-35 Secondary vs my S300 on top..... and maybe 20 hp less from Jammers.
If these differences are a wash.... we're even! Anyone see it differently?

Oh i was just messing with ya... Your S300 is a big plus over my HX (drive pressures tell that alone). Exhausts are a wash (not that I think they make much of a difference anyways) mine reduces down to a 4" for a while for my e-brake. 4" ebrake was like 600 5" was like 900 so [duhhh] 4" it is!! Starting Monday night @ midnight we have had him in and out of 2 hospital emergency rooms and 2 doctors offices to find out why his stomach has been hurting so bad. 1 X-ray, 2 Cat Scans, urine tests, several extensive blood tests later they think it is a rare virus in his intestines VS the first diagnosis of possible appendicitus.
Its hectic and we all are laking sleep and mental accuity right now.
The good news is he is spending less time crying and doubled over in pain since they gave him heavy drugs to ease the symptoms.

I cant make it now. I need to stick around the house this weekend and next week to watch our 7 year old.
We wish him the best and keeping him in our prayers on this end......

It is not that complicated (even I can do it)....there just isn't any room to maneuver your hands around, much less see what your doing. I fought and fought with it and got the new one installed. Now the electric door lock works great. But, I have a second problem. I still can't open the door from the outside.[verymad] [verymad] So I don't now if I have another part failure or something I didn't hook up right or what. Brian are you coming to McKinney or meeting up with us in Denton?
And, I assume Giblet, Gunracer (if he makes it), Forest and Dually dog will meet up with us in Denton at CB at 11?
Is that correct? Did anybody get left off? Does anybody that is coming to my place NOT get the directions to it?
Charlie is preparing some of his homebrewed Texas Fire Chili Saturday night at my house! So come on back to McKinney if you can. BYOB and ice.
If anybody has any extra firewood laying around.....and wants to bring it...I have a fireplace. (but no wood).

Easy way to tell. I believe only the bigger pump comes with the diesel Snow's kit, but the big pump is 5.25" long. the smaller (180psi?) is under 5"... around 4.75+/-!

Wow, just 4 hours of sleep and I'm still awake, I'm shocked. I left TexasCTD's 8:40 and got back to the house about 11:45. I'm proud of my truck, I burned less than a quarter of a tank on the way to the dyno, less than a quarter of a tank on the way back from McKinney, and well over a quarter of a tank between the dyno and following you guys to Rob's. Still got 18.4 mpg. NEED MORE FUEL, if the difference between 100hp and 140 was just 5hp and 20 and 40ft.lbs. But I still like my stock numbers being 270hp and 530 ft.lbs.
I bet Tyler and Brian already have their trucks on meth by now. (That is if BigBlue has even woke up by now)(I still love the fact that all I did was open my dump to trigger his truck alarm on my way out this morning)

His little truck was just getting scared when you fired up, knowing that your truck is nipping at his heals on hp.......so it shows it's fear by sounding an alarm for Daddy Tyler to come comfort it and make it feel better.[laugh]
Seriously, Good to meet you Matt. Just watch the chapter events section for a N. Texas thread.......and come on to whatever is going on. Nice flatbed dually!
Good Day! Nice meeting new faces!
Thanks to Robert for the after dyno party! Also to Charlie for the Chilli Diner!!

First, I'd like to thank Rowland for thinking of the dyno and getting it together. Second, I'd like to thank Bob for having us to his place. He and his wife and family are a class act. Hot chocolate, bottled water, soft drinks, queso, hot sauce, chips, cookies, M&M's and WARM hanger to get out of the wind and cold. And third, to Robert for having some of his over to his house for the little party and to spend the night. A nice warm house sure beats The Ranch in weather like this.
As always, it was great to see old friends and meet new ones. A great bunch of folks. :)
