I see a lot of claims about products, but no real proof that they work as claimed.

I have an uncle that gets suckered into everything, and he swears he got 4 mpg by putting magnets on his fuel line to align the ions in his fuel before combustion.

There's at least a dozen inserts to make your intake air flow in a 'linear' fashion to improve combustion ( like the 'Tornado' ) .

There's a pill being sold you drop in your fuel tank to increase mileage.

I know for real that if you make your exhaust louder you have a good chance at increasing your mileage because you can hear when you are on the throttle. Putting in a turbo boost gauge will increase your mileage because you can watch the boost and keep it lower.

All that said, has anyone ever put a different intake or exhaust on their truck and put that truck on a dyno and proven that the part you just paid $400 - $1200 for actually increases power? I'm not talking about Banks or Airraid's test results. All these can be skewed a bit, and if you ever dynoed your truck you will see every run is different, so pick any two and walla! We have an increase.

I have just seen so many people swear they have more power when all they have is more noise. Bully Dog, Smarty, these types of changes produce power. I'm pretty skeptical about the power produced by removing your muffler of changing the air filter, but I'll do it if someone can show me it works.

Anybody have 1/4 mile times with and without a filter?

I didn't see anything verifiable interms of increasing power when I added my AFE and tourque tube. I didn't notice boost would come on a little earlier in the RPM range and EGT reduction across the rpm range. Thus leading to allowing a little more fuel and a little more power lower in the rpm range. Any over all gain i would think would be small if any. It anything it just allows more power to be made in complementry manor.
