mystery switch
How many of you have a mystery switch and stock tranny? Was the mod worth it or did it eat the tranny fairly quickly? Just wanting some feedback from those with the switch and what problems it has created/cured. TIA for replies

Re:mystery switch
I tried one on my non-stock tranny - It was on for only 2 days. I found it to be WAY to violent of an upshift and was concerned with breaking something. It is nice to keep the converter locked when slowing down, but if you have an exhaust brake and want to control the TC then I'd suggest installing a TC controller. It was fun ripping the tires when it would shift into 2nd and lock up at the same time.

If we told you it wouldn't be a mystery, now would it? It's a toggle switch that locks the torque converter on command. Since this introduces the human element into the system, the potential for disaster is high. It's a good low-buck way to make an exhaust brake work with an automatic, but you have to be careful with it.

Re:mystery switch
I had the switch when my tranny was stock but used it very little....after I upgraded my tranny and converter I use it more now mostly because the tranny can handle lockup better and I need the control sometime when I am towing heavy in hilly country
Of course I forget to turn it off sometimes when coming to a stop :-[ sure wakes ya up when the truck starts to rumble and shake :

Re:mystery switch
Another question, on the TST website it states that some 96 models need the computer reflashed. Is this something that is obvious with driveability (limp mode) or ????

Re:mystery switch
the switch doesnt do as much as it feels like it does..in the 1/8 i gained 1/10 of a second and 1 mph..for the gain in performance,it is not worth the abuse it puts on your trans...locked to locked shifts are a hairy thing.
