My turbo lag seems to be getting longer. How can I tell if my turbo is dying?

Take your intake off and inspect the turbo compressor wheel. Look for signs of it rubbing the housing, bent fins etc. Then grab the shaft in the middle and move it up and down. There will be some play but it should not hit the housing when at the most extreme points. Then try and pull the shaft in and out. That spec is critical, if you have in-out play then its on its way out. If it passes all those tests try giving it a good spin. See if it binds in any one spot or if you feel grinding. It should turn a couple of revolutions then stop not just 1/2 turn or so.
